Down the road a little distance from me is the old, original Edison Portland Cement plant. I’d lived here almost two decades before I knew it was even there, something I discovered on an afternoon motorcycle ride. Funny thing is that when we first moved to this area one of the houses we looked at is 1/2 mile down the road. This plant was founded by Thomas Edison in 1899 and responsible for the cement used to build the original Yankee Stadium, among other things.
After finding it I often wanted to do a little Urban Exploration, but the threat of arrest for trespass and the filing for divorce I’ve been promised would accompany it have kept me out. But thanks to my drone today I was able to get a closer look at what’s behind those fences.
I’m going to need to come back here when the colors start changing and again when the leaves are off as there are supposedly close to 100 buildings on the property in various stages of use and decay.
