I come from a family that has always taken pictures. Vacation slide shows were a given when we got together. Dad gave us Pocket 110 cameras before we reached our teens with the promise of when we were older we could use his Pentax. I’ve never really stopped, but it wasn’t until picking up a DSLR for an anniversary trip to Yosemite that I got serious about it as I was encouraged by the comments of friends, one of whom had a gallery and asked me to show, to which I believe I replied, “Come on, really?!” It was that event that prompted me to start Backdoor Arts Photography, named that because I find I rarely need to travel all that far from my back door to find tremendous beauty worth sharing.
Besides having been displayed at MThomas Galleries in Haddonfield, NJ, I was given an extended one-man show in the Warren County Municipal Office complex featuring works shot exclusively within the county. Additionally I have licensed images to several national recording artists as well as to local area universities for use in their admissions and donor award publications.
All the work you see here is available as prints and for licensing. Please email jake@backdoorarts.com for all inquiries.
